We honor Amanda, a joyful presence in our lives, by raising awareness about domestic violence, providing resources, and making a positive impact in our community

Our Mission

It is a privilege to honor the memory of our beloved Amanda through scholarships and donations. Amanda had a strong desire to assist others and serve as a friend and mentor. She would have been very proud of the scholarships awarded to deserving students. In order to raise awareness about the devastating issue of domestic violence, each student is required to submit a 500-word essay discussing its impact. This will serve as a means to educate and create consciousness regarding this tragic epidemic.

Furthermore, we are deeply passionate about providing support to local domestic violence shelters in our community. When families seek refuge at these shelters, they often arrive with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. Essential items such as shampoo, soap, deodorant, and hairbrushes are in desperate demand.

Losing a loved one is a heart-wrenching experience that no family should have to endure. We understand the pain and sorrow that comes with such a tragedy. If we can prevent even just one more family from going through this anguish, then every effort we make will be worthwhile.

Our beloved Amanda will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and it is our deepest desire for her to be remembered as the kind and loving person she was. Let her legacy be one of compassion and warmth, inspiring others to cherish their loved ones and promote a world where such heartbreak can be avoided.

Promote awareness of domestic violence by educating our communities and supporting shelters that are desperately needed.

Additionally we are dedicated to teaching our youth about the importance of empowerment and self-expression through our 'Let Your Light Shine' program.

OUR STORY

Quality, not quantity

We have made quality our habit. It’s not something that we just strive for – we live by this principle every day.Congratulations on completing your high school years and beginning a new chapter in your life. I am proud to award you the “Let Your Light Shine Memorial Scholarship”. Your essay showed a great understanding of the vicious cycle of Domestic Violence.

My advice to you is to learn the signs and symptoms of a healthy relationship vs. an unhealthy relationship. I am convinced that awareness is the key to making an impact on domestic violence.

Enclosed is a $250.00 check for you to use with initial expenses incurred as you prepare for enrollment at Moberly Area Community College in Moberly, Missouri. In addition, you will receive $500.00 that will be in a fund at Ellington High School. These funds can be used with no restrictions other than you enroll at and attend the above-mentioned University.

Please contact me should you have any questions or concerns. You may also speak to Becky Foster in the front office about the $500.00 in your account.

Again, Congratulations and I hope for you the very best.
